Hi

I'm running WG4 and Cassini and as of yesterday the cassini service will stop 5 sec after being started.
tryed:
- Uninstall / reinstall (removing all WG4 and Cassini files and reg entry's i could find)
- Install only Cassini for .NET 2 and test on it's own (same problem, even with the default CassiniMetabase.xml service stops after 5 sec)
- Remove / rename CassiniMetabase.xml (service will run fine)
- Tryed the fix mentioned in ijwilliamson's topic (no joy as i cant get Cassini to run properly even after uninstall-clearing files and reg entry's-reboot-install)
- The only entry in the event log in in System and reads - The UltiDev Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 2.0 service terminated unexpectedly.

any help would be brilliant, i'd love to have WG4 working again

Hi!

As we understand, the problem is present even when WG4 is removed altogether, and UltiDev Cassini is uninstalled and reinstalled again? If that's the case, could you please see if any new software was installed before the problem started to occur? If you are running XP, would it be possible to find a Restore Point prior to the time when the failure started to happen, restore to that point and download & install UltiDev Cassini to see whether it can work on its own?

Best regards,
UltiDev Team.

hi
no new software installed
yes, problem is present even when WG4 is removed altogether, and UltiDev Cassini is uninstalled and reinstalled again.
running XP MCE 2005 RU2
system restore turned off (for speed and restoring has caused issues in the past particularly with MCE and the guide data / feed)
i've got WG4 working with the IIS that's included with XP MCE
thanks for replying - if you would like to get to the bottom of the problem i'm happy to try, otherwise we can leave it here.

Sorry to say, I have had the EXACT same problem. At first I thought it was WG4 causing the issue... But now with everything removed, I can't even get Ultidev to run it's own Explorer application. After I remove the XML file, the service runs fine.

It got worse and worse somehow too. At first I could keep it running without the WG4 application installed. Then I somehow got that going. All was well for a few days, and then without warning, it has failed completely.

Sounds like you have a major problem here guys...

Back to IIS for me!

Well where is the debug errors? You could track the problem down if you knew what was wrong!

All I get is an error 7034 in my Event Log saying it has stopped unexpectedly...

Why would it crash trying to load its own Explorer application?

All errors and exceptions are logged into the even log. If nothing is logged by Cassini itself then we are at loss.

Hi,

Could you please please verify whether UltiDev Cassini Web Server is present? Please check if "C:\Program Files\UltiDev\Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 2.0\UltiDevCassinWebServer2a.exe" is there and if not, please check in the Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs whether "UltiDev Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 2.0" product is installed. If yes, please do Repair update. If not please download and install it.

Please let us know if this information has helped.

When I go to start\programs\ultidev\cassini webserver\restart cassini for asp.net 2.0 service I get this error
The item restart cassini.bat that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved so this shourtcut will no longer work properly.

Do you want to delete this shortcut?

Hi,

Since it's obvious the installation of UltiDev Cassini is failing, could you please do this:
- Using Control Panel Add/Remove Programs, remove all products with names starting with "UltiDev Cassini".
- Open Even Log using Control Panel -> Administrative Tools and clear Application bin of the Even Log.
- Try installing UltiDev Cassini again, and in case it fails again, go back to Event Log (Application), Refresh the view, and see there are any error or warning entries in the log. If so, please feel free either to post here or export the event log as EVT file and contact us via email so we could respond and let you send us the EVT file by email for analysis.

Unfortunately there is no useful information in the provided error log entry that would help us understand what is wrong. Even though we haven't dealt with this issue before, we'll try to troubleshoot it with your help.

We assume that when you are installing the product you are logged as a user with Administrator privileges.

Could you please tell us if there is "UltiDev Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 2.0" product in the Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs? If so, try uninstalling it and if uninstallation succeeds please check whether "C:\Program Files\UltiDev\Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 2.0" folder is still present. If so, delete it. Reboot the PC and check Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services to ensure that "UltiDev Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 2.0" service is gone. If you have any troubles removing the product please let us know.

After UltiDev Cassini Web Server product is removed, please clean up the Event Log (Application) and install the product again.

Refresh Event Log view and export it as the EVT file. Please send us an email so we could respond you with the address to send the EVT file to.

2. Download and install Microsoft Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. Use it to remove "UltiDev Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 2.0" product registration.
3. Reboot your machine.
4. Remove "Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 2.0" folder with all its contents from the "C:\Program Files\UltiDev".

I got it to work :)

I had to manually enter the registry by regedit and manually remove

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Services
Ultidev Cassini Web Server for Asp.net 2.0

Restart the PC
and reinstall Ultidev cassini web server for Asp.net 2.0
