When I run CassiniServer1Setup.msi and CassiniExplorerSetup.msi, they install to fixed folder addresses: C:\Program Files\UltiDev\Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 1.1 and Cassini Web Server Explorer.

Since this is not compliant with Vista and UAC, we need to change the installation folder. How do we do that?

Thanks,
Fred

Fred,

Are you trying to create an installer, or you just need to install these two MSIs? If you just need to install these two MSIs, we´d recommend creating a BAT file with MSIEXEC.EXE launching the MSIs, and then right-click the BAT file and select Run As Administrator.

Please let us know if this workaround helped?

Best regards,

We need to install to a different folder. BAT files are not Windows-compliant anymore, and we cannot launch them from our Installshield installation.

We can't have our customers right-clicking stuff and doing things as Administrator. First of all, that's not Vista-compliant. Secondly, they are users, not administrators.

Can you please suggest a method that would allow us to control the target path? Or, can you please recompile your .MSI so that it enables optional folder directing?

Thanks
Fred

Fred,

User installing a product bundled with UltiDev Cassini has to have administrative rights (or be able to get elevated into Administrator account in Vista) because our Cassini installs as a windows service. Non-admin user may not be able to install UltiDev Cassini on any version of Windows.

Since you are building an installer using InstallShield, as long as your installer process is called Setup.exe, Vista will automatically elevate current user account into Admin mode (if user can be an Administrator).

Unfortunately it is impossible to change target path with UltiDev Cassini installation, nor can we make a quick change to the released product unless you have Consulting Agreement with UltiDev.

Regards,
UltiDev Team.
