Hi!

UltiDev Cassini web server was successfully installed on your box. Please go to Start -> Programs -> UltiDev ->Cassini Web Server and you should see Cassini where it always was. What that message means is that Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 - a software development tool from MS, was not found on your computer.

If you are a developer and you have Visual Studio 2005 installed on your box, this message means Visual Studio is installed in a folder other than default and therefore was not found there is a workaround for this problem.

If you are not a developer, then you don't need to do anything. Your UltiDev Cassini should be up and running. Just go to Cassini Explorer at http://localhost:7756/ to verify that.

Hi.

Could you please check whether UltiDev Cassini Explorer component is installed. You could find it in Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs. If you don't have it for some reason, please try to donwload and install it. If it fails to install, please capture the error message and let us know.

In add/remove Programs are:
- UltiDev Cassini Web Server Explorer
- UltiDev Cassini Web Server for ASP .Net 2.0
- UltiDev Cassini Web Server for Visual Studio 2005 Developers

I've got installed it without problems!

In the folder generated: "Ultidev" I have a
- folder called "Cassini Web Server for Visual Studio 2005 Developers"
- A word file called Cassini EULA

The point is that when i try to get into http://localhost:7756/ the page doesn't loads
I only see this error on the page: The page cannot be displayed

Could you please try following:
- Go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer (Application), and clean it up.
- Restart Cassini service by going to Programs -> UltiDev -> Cassini Web Server -> Restart Cassini for ASP.NET 2.0 Service.
- Try hitting http://localhost:7756/. If you still get an error please refer back to Event Viewer and look for errors related to UltiDev Cassini. If there are not error, please see if you can find an entry with Event ID 1 reading like "Successfully started Cassini web application [7756...".

OK.. Now please try to run installation of UltiDev Cassini Web Server in Repair mode: in Add/Remove Programs select UltiDev Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 2.0 and click on "Click here for support information". In the popped window click Repair.

If after that service still fails to restart, consider uninstalling all UltiDev Cassini components, rebooting the box and install Cassini again.

Please check the "C:\Program Files\UltiDev\Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 2.0" folder. Do you see following files there?

UltiDevCassinWebServer2a.exe
Interop.IWshRuntimeLibrary.dll
Interop.NetFwTypeLib.dll
UltiDevCassiniServerConfiguration.dll

when I installed UltiDev again, the folder "Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 2.0" didn't generated.

I only have this folder: "Cassini Web Server for Visual Studio 2005 Developers" with these files:

- UltiDevCassiniServerConfiguration.dll
- Starter2

Hi there!

We've got a bit confused now. You've mentioned that you've got "Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 2.0" installed and could not uninstall it. Is that still a problem?

If you were able to uninstall it, and have other components (Cassini Explorer and Cassini for Visual Studio) installed, you could try installing "Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 2.0" from here. Since you also don't seem to have Cassini Explorer installed, try downloading it from here.

Alternatively you could uninstall all Cassini components if that works OK, clean up Windows Event Log, install Cassini again, and see what happens. Application bin in Event Log will have all the error info should installation fail.

Hi!

Devenv.exe is good - should be no problem there.

Could you please tell which UltiDev Cassini components are installed (Control Panel -> Add/Remove Applications), and which folders to you have under "c:\Program Files\UltiDev"?

UltiDev Team.

Hi!

In order to help you troubleshoot the issue we really need to have information on which UltiDev Cassini components are installed (Control Panel -> Add/Remove Applications), and which folders to you have under "c:\Program Files\UltiDev"?

Good. Now please check in the Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services whether "UltiDev Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 2.0" service is running if it is, please stop it.

Now we'll use Microsoft Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove components that won't uninstall naturally. Please download it and use it to remove
- UltiDev Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 2.0;
- UltiDev Cassini Web Server Explorer;

Once you have removed these components, please reboot your machine and remove "Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 2.0" folder from under "C:\Program Files\UltiDev".

In the end,
- In the Add/Remove Programs you should have only "UltiDev Cassini Web Server for Visual Studio 2005 Developers". Other "UltiDev Cassini..." components should be gone.
- "C:\Program Files\UltiDev" folder should only have "Cassini Web Server for Visual Studio 2005 Developers" folder and some files, but no other folders.

If that is the state of the system, please create a restore point before going on to the next step. To create system restore point go to Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore.

After that please clean up Event Log and try to install UltiDev Cassini again. If it fails please check windows Event Log and let us know.

Best regards,
UltiDev Team.
