Sometime ago I successfully got the orginal Cassini source code working with Windows Security. This was important as my app requires knowledge of the logged in user. I would prefer to use UtliDev Cassini and take advantage of new features and bug fixes as they come available but not having Windows Integrated Security is a show stopper. Any plans to include this, I know it's possible because I have done it :-)

Chris, are you sure that was an Integrated Auth? We don't think original Cassini has ever supported integrated authentication unless you've written integrated auth support code yourself. If not, you might have gotten the impression of integrated auth because original Cassini always ran as regular EXE under current interactive user account, which would look like integrated auth when both browser and Cassini are running on the same machine, which probably was the case since original Cassini only supported requests coming from the localhost.

Thank you for your feedback nonetheless. We'll move Integrated Auth up in the Cassini feature wish list.

Best regards,
UltiDev Team.

Definitely Integrated Auth. A small change was necessary to get it working:

see http://www.dotnet247.com...ce/msgs/35/176497.aspx.

You are correct the Cassini I am using runs as an exe if it were running as a service I doubt if this mod would work. It would just get the Service User I suspect. I am using Cassini to support an offline mode for Web application I wrote. It is essential the user is known to the app. I will be happy to supply you the modified source if this would help expedite things.

Thanks

Hello, Chris.

Since Integrated Auth is one of the most desirable features on our Cassini wish-list, your offer to help is very generous and very tempting, but the sad thing is we've just made a new release of Cassini mere two weeks ago. Since we have tens of thousands of Cassini installations worldwide, our Cassini release cycle is close to five weeks regardless of how minor changes are (regression and QA effort takes the lion share of that time line). We are afraid next release of Cassini is a few months away, and that is as early as we could hope to get integrated auth in. However, if you make high-impact, high-distribution-volume application, please contact us offline - we would be happy to discuss it further.

The modifications you pointed us to won't work as is, but they are a very good start for the research required to get IA done. If you contribute code for Integrated Auth implementation working under non-interactive user account, we'll be happy to credit you on our web site.

Thank you for high-quality feedback.
We really wish we could give you better news.

Best regards,
UltiDev Team.
