I am new to all this and had Cassini working a few days ago. It stopped working so I uninstalled and reinstalled, but it failled to load any components. now during installtion it fails towards the end.

The first Error Message is:-

UltiDev application starter for installer utility has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Saying OK to this gives:-

There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

I have tried as many remedies as I could from previous forum issues on installtion problems and got nowhere.

I run XP home SP2 with ASP.NET 2.0

Any ideas??

Hi there.

We would recommend using the restore point that should have been automatically created before Cassini was installed to go back to the pre-Cassini state. Please use Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore to do that. Once you are there, please clean up your windows Application event log in case Cassini fails again - this way we'd be able to get your event log to see what's going on.

Please let us know if you need further help.

Best regards,

H,

Thanks for your prompt response. Unfortunately I had already tries a restore point to when I knew Cassini worked, but this did not help. When I thought of going further back earlier restore points had gone:(

Hi,

UltiDev Cassini has three components in the Add/Remove Programs. Which one are you uninstalling that causes the crash?

Hi!

It's not clear why installation is failing. We can try to troubleshoot it by looking into your windows event logs. If you would like that, please do this:
- Contact us so we could respond by email and get your log file as attachment.
- Clear application windows event log.
- Run Cassini installation and let it fail.
- Export application event log as EVT file and send it to us.

P.S. We assume you are an ASP.NET application developer. If not, you can skip the last part of the installation - the one that is failing. If you don't need Cassini Visual Studio 2005 integration components, you could let the first part download and install Cassini runtime, but cancel Cassini for Developers installation. This way you will still have Cassini Explorer - the tool allowing to register and manage applications manually.

Best regards,
UltiDev Team.
