UltiDev Web Server Pro is not working in Windows Safe mode with n/w

Hi,

Just want to know, like Cassini web server, does UltiDev web server pro also work if system/machine is in safe mode with networking?
When I use UltiDev web server pro explorer and accessed my ASP.net web application then in Windows normal mode, it is started successfully. However, in Windows safe mode, it is not working. Is any one know the reason why?

When I checked the Windows Event log then I found the error message as

Monitoring service has not communicated for at least 120 seconds. Shutting down host process ""C:\Program Files\UltiDev\Web Server\UWS.AppHost.Clr4.x86.exe" dec48e15-d524-4685-9a53-76c4175ff004".

Hi,

We have not tested UWS in Safe Mode. Could you please let us know why would hosting web apps in safe mode is required? Unlike Cassini, UWS relies on http.sys driver for receiving http requests. It's possible that http.sys is off in safe mode.

Thanks for your reply.

I am using the Cassini web server when the system is in windows safe mode with networking. Currently I am looking an alternate web server to replace the Cassini web server.
Hence, I Tested my application with UWS in safe mode with n/w, but, UltiDev web server has failed to restart.

UWS was not designed or tested to work in safe mode. If you could describe the case for why running in safe mode is beneficial for significant number of users, we may consider adding the support in the future.

Hi,

In safe mode with networking, only Cassini web server work and it do not support SSL[HTTPS]. Hence we are trying to replace Cassini with UWS. However, UWS is not working in safe mode. Also, UWS is supporting SSL[HTTPS] in normal mode, which is advantage for web site developer to support their site more secure. But in some scenario, we need to access our web site in both Windows Normal mode as well as in Safe mode more securely and for that purpose we will use only one web server instead of using multiple web server for different scenario.

Hence, It will be great for people like us, who want there web site should work in windows safe mode and normal mode with SSL support.

We are still unclear why there is a need to run Windows in Safe Mode for extended periods of time, outside of tasks like repairing drivers and upgrading hardware?

Hi,

we don’t have the requirement of running in Safe Mode for extended periods of time, but rather that our tool allows users to make repairs remotely. The functions provided by our product currently are accessible via Safe Mode and the requirement is to be able to offer a secure, encrypted method of executing these remediation tasks from a remote location.
