Has anyone created an installer with Cassini and MSDE bootstrapper? If so, could you provide information.

Hello, JR!

Are you using Cassini for ASP.NET 1.1 or for 2.0? In Visual Studio 2005 it's very easy to include SQL Express 2005 with your installation package by simply adding it as one of the pre-requisites - just like Cassini 2.0 itself. If it's Visual Studio .NET 2003 and MSDE 2000, then please take a look at this article.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I am using ASP.NET 1.1 and VS 2003. Merge modules are no longer part of the MSDE 2000 package and is not recommended. I tried using the MSDE 2000 Deployment Toolkit but it looks like there is a problem after Cassini loads. Cassini installs fine but then I get an error when the MSDE setup tries to execute. I getting an error message "Error in Step2: 1639". Can't find a single hit using google.

Anything else would be much appreciated.

1639 looks like an MS Installer (MSI) error code. Googling for MSI error 1639 returns quite a lot of links. Check them out - may be you'll find something that makes sense.
