Dear Support,

The response from a Ultidev Server could be very sluggish from time to time. Is there anyway to raise its Windows proces priority to High? Or there could be something I did wrong?

Best,

Wayne

Hello, Wayne.

Could you please provide a bit more details of what is going on: do requests get served slow, or is it a UI response that is slow? In either case, please provide information on memory and CPU usage of the process in question, and information about the system (OS version, VM or bare metal) and hardware configuration.

Best regards,
UltiDev Team.

Dear Support,

I got two Windows 7 machines. Both seem to experience the same sluggish response from time to time. For the same requests, sometimes I will get my request responded in a second. But some times it will take 10 seconds. I never quite figure out in what condition this will happen. On the "Start Task Manager," we can elect higher priority for a process. But Ultidev is service, not quite sure how to do this. Do you have any user feedback about on/off sluggish responses?

Thanks,

Wayne

Wayne,

The slowness will not be helped by increasing the priority of the process. Did you check memory, disk and CPU usage on the system? Is it only UWS applications that respond slowly, and if so, could you please point the browser to http://localhost:7756/ to see if UWS own diagnostic app also responds slowly? How much memory and what kind of CPU does the machine have? Is it Home, Business, Pro or Ultimate version, as those allow different number of inbound TCP connections that may affect performance of the application. UWS explorer shows host process memory and CPU usage when host node is selected.

Dear Support,

I have a Windows 7 professional and XP professional. Both behaves in a similar way. On my Windows 7 machine, I have 4GB of memory. When I enter http://localhost:7756/ on a browser, it took 8 seconds to response. At that time, the memory usage for the entire Windows is 3.2 GB and CPU usage was 8%. On the UiltiDev Web server Explorer, it says 16 MB of memory useage and 0% CPU usage.

Thanks,

Wayne

Wayne,

It' very hard to tell what is going on. We have not experienced this issue. Windows 7 has limited inbound number of inbound network connections, is it possible your are running out of connections. Also, you have mentioned that this issue is intermittent. Did you see whether slowing down is related to memory consumption? Also, is it a VM or a bare-metal box?

Best regards,
