Is it possible to have automatic login to ones own App by sending it in a get/post - for instance if one wants to programatically read the contents of a certain page that has been exposed by HttpVPN? How can one programatically log in?

Hi there!

Assuming you want to read page's content programmatically, the solution could be using our authentication web service that generates an auth cookie that can be used for subsequent page requests or calling your applications' web services. Is that something you would like to do?

Yes. I was trying to use NetworkCredential which did not seem to work. Please direct me to information on how to call your authentication web service.
Thanks

For more clarity:-

I would like to call the following url from a C# application using WebRequest GET/POST and get the page back. When you do it thru a browser it will ask you to log in. Since I want this automatic, I need to embed the user name and password in the web request. How can this be done in C#?

Hi!

We have added a new article to HttpVPN FAQ that shows how to use HttpVPN authentication web service in order to get HttpVPN Portal authentication cookie. Just like in the web service sample, WebRequst uses the same class, a CookieContainer, to send cookies up along with the request. We are working on the sample project that will illustrate usage of the HttpVPN authentication web service, as well as highlighting other best practices, like handling authentication cookie expiration.

Please let us know if the information we have provided was helpful.

Thanks that helps.

Where do I get the library that contains the code to link in to call HttpVPN.AuthenticationService?

Hi!

To create a web service client proxy class, please use Add Web Reference or Add Service Reference and use the WSDL link to import web service interface definition. If your project is of .NET 3.x or later, project will have Add Service Reference menu item, and not Add Web Reference. To create required ASMX web service client, please hit Advanced button in the Add Service Reference dialog, and then Add Web Reference in the Service Reference Settings dialog:
