Hi,

I have been trying to install Cassini on XP embedded SP3 with .net framework 2.0,I have been failed a couple of times, and follow the error message, I have been added Windows Script component, net.exe, and it can be installed on XPE, when I start or restart Cassini web server, it will quit automatically, and no errors, so, would you please let me know the xpe component requirement for Cassini web server for asp.net 2.0, thank you very much.

Henry.

Hello, Henry.

We didn't test UltiDev Cassini with XP embedded, so we don't really know why it fails, but if possible, please take a look at Windows Event Log (Application) to see whether there is an additional information there.

I think maybe it requires some network components,I will try to add some network component ,and if it works I will post the result here.

BTW, I think xpe/wes developer like to use cassini web server to replace IIS.

Best Regards.
Henry.

Hello, Henry.

Sorry for a delayed reply. The log unfortunately does not tell much regarding why our server fails. Please let us know if you find what is missing.

Could you please tell us why you think UltiDev Cassini would be better than IIS on XP Embedded?

Best regards,
UltiDev Team.

Hi, I have tried several times, and find it works with .net 3.0 in xp embedded. so still can't find what I have missed with .net 2.0.

For the reason that Cassini is better than IIS.
1. we are trying to make our XPE running time in a small size, but IIS require more component.
2. IIS must configured with running time image as a component, can't be installed if we already made the XPE running time image,
3. Consider system security, I think it's safer than IIS.

Hi, Henry.

It's really odd that adding .NET 3.0 has fixed the problem because UltiDev Cassini has no dependencies on 3.0. Still, thank you very much for posting your findings - other XPE users will certainly appreciate your persistence in figuring out the solution to the problem.

Also, thank you for the positive feedback about our little web server.
