Hi,

I remember some times ago I found on this website about the possibility to embed cassini as a dll into a Winform app, and this way make the web app work / behave as adesktop application.

I need this since I have a web app and I have some users which wants to use it as desktop app

However now I cannot find that information here. Is this still possible? Can you point me to the reference web page where explains how to accomplish this functionality?

Thank you
Bogdan

Hi, Bogdan.

When it comes to distributing UltiDev Cassini, in most cases there is very little difference between browser-based and windows-based UIs, because the app is still served by the web server. The whole discussion back then was how to run ASP.NET application from an external drive, like CD or flash drive, without having to install UltiDev Cassini. It was possible to do that with Windows XP, but with Vista and its more paranoid security approach running EXEs from external drives has become pretty much impossible. Since more and more people use Vista, using Cassini without installation is less viable. As long as your application needs to be installed on the target machine, whether the client is browser or Windows UI - does not matter. One would install UltiDev Cassini the same way in both cases.

Best regards,
UltiDev Team.
