Hi,

My UltiDev Cassini installation was working fine. But today I started my computer and Cassini wouldn't start.

I tried ...
c:\>net start "UltiDev Cassini Web Server for ASP.Net 2.0"
System error 5 has occurred.
Access is denied.

In the Windows (Vista) system log, the following event error occurs:

The UltiDev Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 2.0 service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.


Any ideas how to troubleshoot this?

Hi there!

We never saw this problem before, which means fixing it will be more fun.

What OS are you using, and is it possible that "Local System" user access rights or security policy for services have changed on the machine? Is any of the applications running under Cassini access data on a share?

Overall this is more likely to be a user rights issue rather than Cassini's problem. You may be able to simply google your way out of this problem, but if not, please let us know.

I am having this same issue with one system in particular. I can't seem to get it working even after re-installing. Any ideas why the service will not run?

Hi there!

Could you please take a look at the Windows Event Log for any relevant error/warning entries? If not, please tell us about the system -anything you might consider useful for troubleshooting. For example, what version of Windows that is, have it been working alright before you have installed it?
