When you say you checked C:, did you look into "c:\Windows\System32" folder for the presence of wshom.ocx file?

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
CLSID
and please do Edit | Find and search for "{72C24DD5-D70A-438B-8A42-98424B88AFB8}".
