I have a customer who is trying to install our product, which uses your server. When we try to get the server for ASP.NET 2.0 to install the progress bar goes across once, then it dies saying the error is 80040111. A search for this error here returns no results.

Can you give me any insights?

Thanks,

Steve

Steve,

This error is not familiar. Is it possible to get your customer export his/her Windows Event Log and then you would forward it to us? In situations like this we usually ask users to clean up the event log, run the program to reproduce the issue, end then export event log as a file and send to us. Also, if they are technical enough, you could ask them to run our web server MSI using this command:
Code:
msiexec.exe /lv intalllog.txt /i <msifile>.msi

It will produce installlog.txt file that may have clues about possible causes of the error.

I have not yet heard from my user with the files you requested. I have asked again but haven't heard back. I would like to keep this open a little longer.

Thanks,

Steve

Steve,

It appears that target machine has a problem with one of the system components, called "Windows Script", formerly known as "Windows Scripting Host". If you search our forum for "script" or "scripting", you will see that some other users had issues with this component. Usually it gets inadvertently uninstalled and since it's a system component, UltiDev Cassini installer does not look for its presence before starting installation, resulting in installation failure. In your case it looks like the component itself is installed, but got corrupted somehow. We recommend downloading and installing the latest version of Windows Script on the target machine and then try installing UltiDev Cassini once again.

Please let us know if this has helped.

UltiDev Team.
