Files Necessary To Install Cassini

Hi All,

I have a question about the installation of Cassini. Is the setup executable the only file needed to install Cassini or are there other files that are downloaded from the internet during the installation process? If so, is there a version of the install that contains these files? I need a version of the install that is completely local? The reason for this is because I am developing a browser based app using .Net 2005 for my girlfriend's mother. They will obviously need a web server installed on their PC to run this app. They are running WinXP but do not have IIS. They also do not have internet connectivity from their home which would prevent the install of Cassini from being able to download any necessary files. All they need is a very simple web server capable of running my .Net application. Your server seems like the logical choice. Any help you can provide would be helpful.

Hi, Shane.

If you are building a setup project using Visual Studio 2005, then in the Developer's Guide find a section explaining how to add a Prerequisite to the Setup project, and there you will see this screenshot:


Second checkbox, "Download .. from the same location..." will make all your prerequisutes a part of the installation and that will make Setup.exe look for all the components locally, without going to Internet to download anything. Once your installation project is built, the MSI, the Setp.exe bootstrapper, and prerequisites will be put in the same folder. From there you can ZIP all the files and folders or burn them on CD and ship it to your customer.
