I installed Cassini .net v2 to a machine with windows XP sp2, .net v1.1 and v2 installed. I don't have IIS 5.1 on it and that is why I try the Cassini. If I try to start the Web Server Explorer I get this error:

Quote:
Server Error in '/' Application.
Could not load file or assembly 'System.EnterpriseServices, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

If I copy the System.EnterpriseServices.dll to C:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_32\System.EnterpriseServices\"folder"

I get another error:

Quote:
Compilation Error
Description: An error occurred during the compilation of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific error details and modify your source code appropriately.

Compiler Error Message: CS0009: Metadata file 'c:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_32\System.EnterpriseServices\2.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a\System.EnterpriseServices.dll' could not be opened -- 'Error importing module 'System.EnterpriseServices.Wrapper.dll' of assembly 'c:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_32\System.EnterpriseServices\2.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a\System.EnterpriseServices.dll' -- The system cannot find the file specified. '

Any Ideas?

Thank you

Hi there!

First thing we would recommend is to repair .NET Framework 2.0 installation. It can be done using Add/Remove Programs from Control Panel. After that, if you still have the problem, we would like to ask you to write a small test program using .NET Framework 2.0 that simply instantiates ServicedComponent class and call, say, servicedComponent.ToString(). We would like to be sure we are dealing with Cassini problem, and not with more general system problem, before we start investigating.

Please let us know if this has helped.

Hello again and sorry for the delayed response.

Well the problem is fixed but there was no .Net framework problem (I did a repair installation but the problem remained) and until now I don't know what it was. After a system restore (15 days back) and after I had 5 other related programs removed It worked! The problem itself however remains a mystery.

Thank you for your time. Problem "solved"...
