Dear All,

I'm using dotNet setup project to install my web application and attach Cassini to the installation process as it described on the configurations instructions web page, and every thing is work fine 100%, Except this problem below :

Generally:

The ( Incoming Mail Server & User Name) for "MS Office - Outlook" mail account have been changed Only for case if i'm using "Exchange Server", and if I use outlook for local machine only, their is no problem

Details:

My E-mail "User Name" : changed From "MyUserName" To "MyUserName/192.168.100.80"
& "Incoming Mail Server" changed To "localhost"

This only happen if I use "Exchange Server" in my intranet, and I connect to the network .
But If I unplugged my PC's network cable, nothing changed in "Outlook"

I think this issue related to "Cassini"dll and it's configurations when it initialize the web server services -may be-, because I don't write any code while installation

Thanks in advance

Hello, Ahmed!

Are you using SMTP email or MAPI/Outlook?

I'm Using "SMTP" and it value is : 192.168.100.80, it's same as new added value to UserName : username/192.168.100.80
please note that i'm not using any Mail or SMTP functions in my application, it's just simple using access database

Best Regards

Hi, Ahmed!

We are not quite clear what is the error exactly. Could you please provide screenshots, or stack trace report, or error message, with (if possible) list of steps you took, like: registered the application with UltiDev Cassini, run application under Cassini, get error such and such...

All the best,
UltiDev Team.

Hi,

for setup project steps:

1- I used UltiDev in prerequest installation
2- Add the Cassini Dll

3- Add the "Custom action data"
Code:
/AppID="{0163A3CE-061C-4781-A7DE-AC80548A7E9E}" /AppLocation="[TARGETDIR]\" /AppDefaultDoc="Login.aspx"

that's all

after I install my software on the PC, I don't get any "Error Messages" and the application is work fine,
But just the Outlook E-mail account data changed to

Incoming Mail Server : localhost
SMTP : 192.168.100.80
User Name : MyUserName/192.168.100.80

Ahmed, let us recap the issue - please let us know if we understand it correctly:

Mere act of installation of your product, which uses UltiDev Cassini, changes Exchange email account settings in Outlook, and your code does not do anything with Outlook. Please let us know if we got it right.

Also, you've mentioned some MS Access DB in relation to the issue. How exactly does it play in this case?

Thank you,
UltiDev Team.

Yes, you are right

MS Access DB : it's my application's database file that store it's data, i think it's not related to this issue

Thanks

Ahmed,

The behavior you describe is very strange. UltiDev Cassini installer and configuration API never touch email settings. To do that we would have to invoke MAPI or some other Outlook API, which we certainly do not do anywhere in our code.

Is this behavior reproducible? Are there any other prerequisites installed along with your application that manipulate email settings?

Best regards,
UltiDev Team.
