Installed Microsoft Visual Studio following instructions from:

http://msdn2.microsoft.c...s/express/aa975050.aspx

Then when installed the UltiDev Cassini Server got the message saying: "Installation of UltiDev Cassini components for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 was skipped because Visual Studio 2005 was not found in its regular location on this system"

Maybe I don't have fully installed Visual Studio 2005 ?? I cannot find such an entry neither in Start.Programs menu on the desktop or in "Add or Remove Programs" list from Control Panel ??

Andrew,

The message that you got, given VS 2005 was installed, usually means that it was installed in the folder other then default location suggested by installer. If you changed the destination folder then this behavior is expected and the workaround is described here. However, if you have installed VS 2005 in its default location and yet you got this message, it probably means VS installation was not successful.

Please let us know if this has helped.

Hi,

When trying to install VS 2005 from
http://msdn2.microsoft.c...s/express/aa975050.aspx
I accepted all defaults.

If VS 2005 is successful then should you see it in Start.Programs menu (desktop) or in listing "Add or Remove Programs" list from Control Panel ??
If it is in Start.Programs menu then what this menu's item looks like ?

In my case I don't see it in neither.

Regards, Andrew

Andrew,

After successful VS installation you should see "Microsoft Visual Studio 2005" menu in Start -> Programs. "Add/Remove Programs" should have and item starting with "Microsoft Visual Studio 2005".

If you have neither, then we would recommend you installing it one more time.

Sure I'll try again. So under successful installation of VS 2005 in Start -> Programs menu you see only "Microsoft Visual Studio 2005" without any associated programs, like e.g. "Microsoft Visual C# 2005 Edition" ? After my abnormal installation I'm having in that menu entries like:
"Microsoft Visual C# 2005 Edition", "Microsoft SQL Server 2005".

Andrew,

Since you have Visual C# installed, you may not need to re-install it again. Instead, please see if you have "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SDK\v2.0\BootStrapper\Packages" folder on your machine.

Alright, now, assuming there is no "UltiDev Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 2.0" sub-folder in the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SDK\v2.0\BootStrapper\Packages" folder, please see if there is a "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE" folder on your system. If there is such folder, then something's wrong, because this is where UltiDev Cassini installer is looking to find out whether there is a visual studio 2005 installed and whether to give the "Installation of UltiDev Cassini components for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 was skipped because Visual Studio 2005 was not found in its regular location on this system" message. If "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE" folder does not exist, please follow this workaround instructions.

Please let us know if this has helped.
