I downloaded "UltiDev Cassini Web Server for Visual Studio 2005 Developers (v. 2.0.8)" and I attempted to use it to install Cassini on my machine, running Windows XP. The install goes through each step and the successful message is shown when the process is completed.

However, I am not prompted for the webserver settings like I should be. In addition, when I look at the Cassini folder under Start->Programs, it is empty. I looked at the list of services on the machine and Cassini is not listed as an installed service. I have VS2005 installed on the machine, as well as VS2003.

Any suggestions on what I can do?

Hi,

We are not sure what is happening, but we'll happy to help you troubleshooting it.

Could you please check under Start -> All Programs whether you have UltiDev menu with Cassini Web Server menu in it? Also, if you go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs, do you see any items starting with UltiDev Cassini? If not, what happens if you try to install the product one more time - does it behave like product is already installed?

Please also check Windows Event Log (Application) for any error and warning entries related to UltiDev Cassini. That may give a good idea whether anything has gone wrong.

Please let us know what you found and we'll continue from there.

Best regards,
UltiDev Team.

Thanks for the suggestions. As part of my troubleshooting, I performed the suggestions prior to my posting. There is the UltiDev menu option under Start->Programs but it is empty. As for Add/Remove programs, it only showed the option for UltiDev Cassini for Web Developers 2005.

I had checked the windows event viewer and this is what I found:

Product: UltiDev Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 2.0 -- Error 1001. Service Install():
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Interop.IWshRuntimeLibrary, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=cc16caed94880aaa' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
File name: 'Interop.IWshRuntimeLibrary, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=cc16caed94880aaa'
at CassiniService.ProjectInstaller.CreateProgramIcon(String targetPath, String shortcutName, String iconLocation, String description)
at CassiniService.ProjectInstaller.CreateShortcuts()
at CassiniService.ProjectInstaller.Install(IDictionary stateSaver)

After some experimenting, I went into Program Files and deleted the entire UtilDev directory. Then I attempted another install of Cassini and all was successful. I should have attempted the delete of the directory prior to posting but it did not occur to me.

Hi again.

It appears that Windows Scripting Host (WSH) component has been removed from the computer where you are trying to install the product. WSH is usually installed by default but it can be removed/unregistered by incorrectly written uninstaller. We see this issue once in a while.

To fix this problem please first, uninstall "UltiDev Cassini..." item from Add/Remove Programs. Then please download and install WSH. After that you should have no trouble installing UltiDev Cassini Web Server.

Please let us know if this has helped.

Best regards,
