Yes, we hit http://localhost:7756 on the machine which can't run the NobleWebReports app. So it seems like UWS isn't causing the error.

NobleWebReports is the vendor's app & we don't know much about it. Since we can run it on 1 PC & not in another, the vendor says that it is a problem in our environment. Can you suggest where the app may be colliding with something in our environment or vice versa?

Amy,

Since you are having trouble running the app under the interactive UWS as described earlier, with the "registration conflict" error, it means that this system is likely having problems.

We would suggest trying to run this application on yet another system to confirm that the problem is localized to the specific computer.

Best regards,

We can get it to run on a different PC. The only difference that we think that may matter is that the PC that can't run our app has a more restrictive software firewall. We compared its firewall with our standard one but couldn't identify any apparent root cause. Attached are the more restrictive firewall rules.

Amy,

We have downloaded and removed the file from the post just in case it had information not for public eyes.

Firewall sounds like a probable culprit, however, the fact that UWS app at http://localhost:7756/ still works while interactive UWS server does not, casts a bit of a doubt on the theory.

We looked at the file you have supplied and found no Firewall information there. UWS does create exceptions in Windows Firewall when an application is registered with UWS, but only in Windows Firewall - 3rd party software firewall settings are not changed. You may want to try to tweak firewall settings to ensure access to the URL on which your application is hosted.

What firewall software are you using?

We use McAfee. I attached the GPOs in a different format.

I appreciate investigating this with you. Let me know if you are done. If that's the case, I'll share results & pursue further with our internal team.

Amy,

We cannot tell what exactly causes blockage of http.sys registration flow, resulting in port conflict error you are getting. Software firewall may well be the cause, but from the log you sent we could not determine it was the root cause. If you have a test environment similar to where problem occurs, it would be a worthy idea to explore to run the flow with firewall both on and off. Firewall has a pretty high probability to be the culprit here.
