In a scenario where we need to let clients/users notify about certain server side events,
is it a good idea to install Cassini on the clients machines and when the app on the client starts,
start Cassini on the client so we could notify clients. Is this feasible and do you see any disadvantages with this approach. Please let me know.
Thanks.

Hi there!
You could conceivably use Cassini to send notifications to clients, but only if there are no firewalls between your server and your client. If both your server and your client run inside protected Local Area Network, you should be able to use Cassini. If your client reaches server from inside LAN, with firewall between them, then having just Cassini on the client would be not enough. The only way to solve your problem is to have client periodically poll the server. Our upcoming core product will make it possible to reach web applications and web services running on boxes inside LANs.
