When updating an application which also iupdates cassini web server I get the following message:

The older version of UltiDev Cassini Web Server Explorer cannot be removed. Please contact your technical support group.

The reason for this failure is because the older version cassini of cassiniexplorer.msi has been deleted from the temp folder and is no where else on the computer. This happens on my computer automatically as Windows Onecare will delete the temp folder once a month as part of computer maintence.

Is there a solution to this ?

I would suggest that if setup files are needed for updating cassini then they should be in a more secure place than a temp folder.

Thanks

Hi!

We are sorry for the inconvenience. It's unlikely that the issue is caused by the MSI missing in the TEMP folder because Cassini installer does not rely on its MSI being present in the TEMP. Sorry we can't be more exact about the cause of the issue.

To work around the problem you have a couple of possibilities:
- Tell us which version of the UltiDev Cassini Explorer you used to have and we will send you the MSI so you could run it in the repair mode. To find out which version you have bring up Control Panel -> Add/Remove Software, select UltiDev Cassini Web Server Explorer and click the Support link - it will display the version number.

- An easier and quicker approach would be to use Microsoft Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (KB290301). It works really well and will remove everything related to the product from the Registry. After it's done all you need to do is to remove UltiDev Cassini Explorer files by deleting "C:\Program Files\UltiDev\Cassini Web Server Explorer" folder. After that you should have no trouble installing new version of UltiDev Cassini.

Please let us know if this information helped.
