I was trying to upgrade a client's application to newer version, i copy the new asp.net 2.0 application folder to overwrite existing one, then it Cassini failed to load it, the icon appear in grey colour. but if i create a new one in 64bit it can be load. Or if I overwrite the program folder with the old version, it works.

at the end, what i did is to only copy the new DLL files in the bin folder, in this way it works.

But does anyone know why? Thanks.

Cemson,

Sorry we are unable to come up with a theory why this is happening. 32-bit host processes can't load 64-bit DLLs, but since you have not added any 64-bit dlls, we don't know why this is happening. Please check whether you have changed your project build settings to build your application as 64-bit - then this problem can be explained. Otherwise, we are not sure what is going on.

I rebuild the dll and if i just replace the dll, it works, but if i replace the entire application folder it doesn't load it. which means it isn't the dll's problem.

Hi,

Do are there errors or warnings logged in Windows Event Log (Application) that are related to this? If there re, try, if possible, to clean up the event log, reproduce the problem, export the event log as EVTX file, and attach it to your next post?
