Hello!

I am trying to get Cassini to run my Vault sourcesafe webservice - well, actually it runs the webserivce smoothly, the problem is that my Vault clients need to access the webservice with the url: http://localhost:7725/vaultservice/vaultservice.asmx but Cassini has it available on the url http://localhost:7725/VaultService.asmx
Does anybody have a hint for me how I could configure Cassini to make the url http://host:port/vaultservice/vaultservice.asmx available?

Hi, Agust.

You could attempt to create a 'vaultservice' folder under the application root and copy the vaultservice.asmx over to the 'vaultservice'. Alternatively, if there is already a 'vaultservice' folder containing vaultservice.asmx, you could try to register Vault application with Cassini so that parent folder of 'vaultservice' folder would be application's physical location. For example, if your vaultservice.asmx file is physically located in "c:\TopFolder\vaultservice\vaultservice.asmx", then you could try to register "c:\TopFolder" as application's physical location to get desired 'http://localhost:7725/vaultservice/vaultservice.asmx' URL.

Yes, I tried that yesterday with, resulted in this error:
--
Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.

Agust,

Is there any way your client app could be changed to get web service URL from some external configrable source instead of heaving it hardcoded? For example, if your client app is .NET 2.0 application, it may already have the URL saved in app.config file.

there's a chance that the first approach, with moving ASMX files into 'vaultservice' folder might work if web.config file and Bin folder were kept in the root...
