We have a Silverlight with WCF/RIA architecture and ASP.NET 4 and we would like to deploy for local intranets using UWS. Is this supported? Are there any issues? We only use basicHTTPBinding. We use Forms Authentication, cookies, etc. Are these supported?

We use caching and compression on this website. Are these also supported?

Thanks,

Allen

Allen,

UWS supports ASP.NET to the full extent, including WCF, cookies, forms auth, caching - everything you find in ASP.NET. UWS does GZIP response compression, which can be turned on and off. UWS is also very easy to download and try. Chances are you'll like it better than IIS.

We tried to set up a Proof of Concept and it appears that WCF only works if the address is localhost. We are unable to access our WCF web services from another computer, from an IP address, or from a URL (other than localhost). We are using basicHTTP binding. I read on your forums about a problem with WCF, but I thought this was resolved with UltiDev current version. This isn't really viable for a production WCF implementation if it can only be accessed from localhost if this is the case.

Please let me know.

Thanks,

Allen

Hello, Allen.

Are there any firewall rules blocking access to the machine from the outside? Can you reach the box from another machine at http://<hostname>:7756/ - there is an internal app hosted by UWS on port 7756. Please check if you can access it. By design, UWS WCF services using basicHttp binding should be accessible as any ASP.NET page.

Please let us know what you have found.
