Hi,

I have a fresh install of Windows 2000 Professional with SP4 and .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 installed. When attempting to install Cassini 1.1 RC1 the installer gets right to the end and then pops up a dialog with an error on it. The error is:

COM object with CLSID {72C24DD5-D70A-438B-8A42-98424B88AFB8} is either not valid or not registered.

From the MSI log I can see that everything is fine until a custom action is executed (see below).

*** STEPS TO RECREATE: ***

1. Run Cassini1ServerRC1.exe
2. Just click "Next" without changing any defaults

*** MSI LOG (created by executing "Cassini1ServerRC1.exe /l*v C:\Temp\CassiniLog.txt"): ***

Hi there!

Thank you for letting us know. The COM object with that particular CLSID is Windows Scripting Host (C:\WINDOWS\system32\wshom.ocx), which MS recommends not to redistribute along with applications. It seems to be installed in fresh XP, but we'll double-check Win2K. We will also check to see if we can include wshom.ocx into the distribution package.

To work around the issue please try to download and install Windows Scripting from MS and please let us know if this helped.

Thank you,
UltiDev Team.

Great!

We've checked our Win 200 Pro QA setup, which is vritually fresh - with only .NET Framework 2.0, Windows Installer 3.1 and all the hotfixes, and it did have Windows Scripting Host installed. We'll keep this problem in mind.

Best regards,

Hi,

InstallShield provides a Windows Script Host 5.6 merge module. I have just tested it with our project that uses the Cassini merge module and it works just fine (no more errors). The URL is: http://www.installshield.com/downloads/modules.asp?prod=wind&lan=english

Srba
