Hello,

I have worked with the Cassini server(Installed using UltiDevCassiniWebServer2.exe) which hosts the .NET 2.0 application. When I searched for the an installer of cassini which supports .NET 3.0 applications in the UltiDev website, I could find UltiDevCassiniWS_SetupPrereq_VS2008.exe. I got little bit confused with the name of the EXE as I was expecting something like UltiDevCassiniWebServer3.exe. When I was searching the FAQ(http://ultidev.com/Forums/default.aspx?g=posts&t=366) I got to see that "ASP.NET 3.5 applications can run under UltiDev Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 2.0." But when I see the download page It says For "Visual Studio 2005 and ASP.NET 2.0 application development" where we get the UltiDevCassiniWebServer2.exe. When I try to download from the link "For Visual Studio 2008 and ASP.NET 3.5, 3.0 & 2.0 application development" I get the UltiDevCassiniWS_SetupPrereq_VS2008.exe EXE. Please clarify whether is there any separate EXE for .NET 3.0 applications.

Hi, Excel.

UltiDev Cassini does support .NET Framework 3.0 as well as 3.5. Cassini Server didn't get a new release for 3.x because it could serve 3.x application without changes. In fact .NET 3.x is just an additional set of assemblies running in CLR 2.0.

Hello,

Does cassini support .NET 4.0 platform. I have an application which is developed on .NET 4.0 platform and compiled to work on all the platforms(Lower versions even). I have XP having .NET 3.0 version. When I run the application, It works. When the same copy is made to work on machine which has 4.0 .NET platform. It doesn't work. What is the issue. The error message we get is "UltiDev Cassini Web Server Launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

No, UltiDev Cassini does not support ASP.NET 4.0 yet, but we are working on the UltiDev Cassini Pro that will support .NET Framework 4.0. We plan to release it later this year. It will be much more advanced product - closer to IIS than to Cassini in functionality, while remaining lightweight, free and redistributable.
