hello,
first i'm going to describe my home's scenario:

My HOME
) ( --> PC1 (192.168.0.2)
Internet ) -- > ( Router (no DHCP) --> PC2 (192.168.0.3)
) (

Cassini WebServer it's running on the PC1 and hosts a webservice on the port 80 correctly accessible from localhost/mywebservice.asmx.
As i want access to PC1 mywebservice so:
i created a dns remote solving through dyndns.org in order to redirect a specific web address(let me say mywebdns.dyndns.org towards my router (gateway of my home's lan), then i activate a port forwarding from my router towards PC1 mywebservice (in order to access to PC1 with mywebdns.dyndns.org:myport/mywebservice.asmx).
So I access correctly to my router start page BUT to mywebservice PC1 don't at all (locally does correctly).
Alos, i tried to host mywebservice on the same port on the what it's activated port forwarding but without success.

Please, have you some suggestions?
Thank you verymuch

Ivan

Hello, Ivan.

Before we get into troubleshooting your configuration, let us note that hosting Internet-facing web applications by UltiDev Cassini is risky.

As for the problem you have described, we think it is more likely that you are having a problem with TCP/IP routing, rather than with UltiDev Cassini. If you can go to the PC2 and access an application at PC1, then it is definitely a routing problem, because for Cassini server running on PC1 there is absolutely no difference whether the request is coming from 192.168.0.3 or 192.168.0.1. If you happen to have another web server on PC1, like IIS or Apache, try hosting a simple HTML page there and set up your router to point to that application and see whether that works.

Also, please check your software firewall on PC1 and whether it blocks inbound traffic on PC1. UltiDev Cassini installer punches a hole in the Windows Firewall for itself, but if you use a software firewall from another vendor, you may need to configure it manually.

Please let us know if this information has helped.

Best regards,
UltiDev Team.

Alright it's not a good idea to host it by Cassini...BUT i have to host a web service .NET based and i think Cassini it's only chance (or no) as i don't have (and can't) IIS on my pc (xp home edition)

1 ) unfortunately currently i don't have PC2 wired then i can't try PC1<-link->PC2
2) there's not any firewall running

i will knIw ASAP

Thanks.

Regards,
Ivan
